Software Architect & Lead Full-Stack Developer | MITCHDesigns - Yadaweya (2012)

Overview

Yadaweya is an Egyptian social enterprise and fair-trade e-commerce marketplace dedicated to preserving authentic handmade crafts and empowering marginalized artisan communities across Egypt (from Nubia and Upper Egypt to the Sinai Peninsula and Siwa Oasis). Contracted through digital agency MITCHDesigns, this project engineered Yadaweya's community-driven e-commerce platform.

Served as Software Architect and Lead Full-Stack Developer throughout the engagement. Elicited requirements directly with social enterprise stakeholders, coordinated the development and design teams, and engineered the core e-commerce catalog, shopping cart, and secure payment processing platform on the proprietary custom PHP MVC framework and MySQL.

Key Technical Challenges & Architecture

//1. Community-Centric Artisan Catalog

Modeled relational schemas connecting individual handcraft products directly to their artisan creators, craft traditions, and regional Egyptian governorates, creating an immersive, mission-driven shopping experience.

//2. Core E-Commerce & Checkout Engine

Architected the multi-category product catalog, inventory tracking, and dynamic cart calculation engine to handle variable handcraft attributes, international shipping fees, and multi-currency orders.

//3. Payment Platform Integration

Engineered secure transaction processing pipelines, integrating payment gateway interfaces with atomic order status management and automated customer order confirmations.
